“Halpern’s Non-Predictive Music™” creates breakthroughs for my students. It enables them to concentrate and focus far better than other music I’ve tried. I recommend it highly to anyone wanting to accelerate their learning curve.”
---Kim Bevill, classroom teacher and educational consultant
Brain-compatible music fine-tunes students' minds into brainwave states--alpha and theta--conducive to creativity, focus, and learning more easily and effectively.
After researching and experimenting, we chose music CDs by Musician, Composer and former Music Teacher Steven Halpern. Dr. Halpern's music is used in classrooms and corporations worldwide. They are used and recommended by management and personal development consultants Brian Tracy and Mark Victor Hansen.

The keys to accelerated learning have long been known to be relaxation (but not too much!), concentration and focus.
We have urged generations of children to: think! concentrate! and stop getting distracted so easily! New findings from brain scans have shown what excellent teachers have always known-- not everyone can concentrate at will, even if they try very hard and are motivated to do so. In fact, the brains of children (and adults) with ADD/ADHD actually disorganize the more they try to focus and concentrate; brain scans show the brain's electrical activity scattering to all different areas the harder they try to focus.1
Internationally known Psychologist Dr. Daniel Goleman, in his book Social Intelligence; The New Science of Human Relationships, presents data proving when the brain’s distress centers are activated, they impair the functioning of the prefrontal areas for memory, attention and learning2. If distress impairs learning and relaxation promotes it, wouldn't it be helpful to guide students to relax, while simultaneously focusing their brainwaves toward optimum frequencies for thinking and learning?
One way to access this optimal state for learning is to play brain-compatible music. The beauty of this approach is it takes no additional time or effort, and students reap benefits without realizing they're hearing anything more than simply background music!
Q: Isn't Classical Music, like Mozart or Chopin, "brain compatible"? A: Classical, and other kinds of music can be brain compatible, but best results are with music that is non-predictive and relaxing (focusing brainwaves in a calm but alert state). Non-predictive music means a beat cannot be detected. If a composition has a beat the mind can predict, the brain automatically anticipates what comes next. While anticipating, focus is not on studying! Even though someone may seem to be simultaneously listening to music and studying math, for example, in reality the brain continually zips back and forth. As attention is split between following math or following the music, students study less effectively and efficiently.
2. People learn better when relaxed, but most music-- from Bach to Rock-- is intended to stimulate, not relax. Relaxation implies a slow, regular heartbeat. Due to the physical law of entrainment3, any external rhythm automatically overrides any internal rhythm (heartbeat). This means music with a fast beat makes the heart beat faster, preventing relaxation!
Q: How do I know whether a piece of music is distracting?
A: If you read the same sentence over and over, it’s distracting. If you don’t remember what you just read (or which number to carry over) a moment later, it’s distracting. If you’re humming along with the music, it’s distracting.
Music for Accelerated Learning CD $15.98. Specially composed instrumental music features piano, flute and violin, to support the learning process by decreasing stress and finetuning the mind into the “window” frequencies of alpha and theta brainwave activity. These states are associated with higher levels of performance and creativity.
Over the past 33 years, many leading health professionals, like Dr. Brian Weiss, John Bradshaw and Doreen Virtue, have used Dr. Halpern's music in their live and recorded programs, as they provide an ideal setting for guided visualizations and affirmations.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if
there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

Music for Accelerated Learning CD With Subliminal Affirmations $15.98.
Create the optimal sound environment to learn, retain and recall information more effectively. The music becomes transparent and non-distracting as it orchestrates whole brain learning. Recommended for students of all ages, including those with ADD/ADHD.
Music with Affirmations
Affirmations are positive phrases that are repeated for the purpose of reprogramming negative thoughts and attitudes into positive ones, to accomplish goals or change habits. When the subconscious and conscious minds are not in agreement, changing habits and behavior is an uphill battle. For example, a person may want to quit smoking-- consciously-- but the subconscious mind may have negative programming such as, "if you stop smoking you'll gain weight". This belief prevents the person from fully committing to the non-smoking goal, because the subconscious mind is "protecting" him or her from gaining weight!
How do we reprogram the subconscious mind? Positive affirmations, repeated when relaxed, are proven effective at reprogramming the subconscious to change behavior and habits more quickly and easily than the conscious alone. Because hearing affirmations spoken over music would be distracting when studying, the CDs below feature brain-compatible music with subliminal affirmations--positive phrases spoken below a level detectable to the conscious mind--which is compatible with studying.
Do subliminal affirmations work? Some claim the positive empirical evidence is due to the placebo effect, rather than results of the affirmations. Others (like us) believe some subliminal CDs work while others don't, as the many companies producing this music have great variation in quality and researched-based practices.
We chose Dr. Halpern's CDs due to their verifiable success for over three decades. We feel if they can't hurt--and positive messages certainly can't--and they have a good chance of helping, it is important to offer them. Each CD includes a complete list of the affirmations spoken subliminally, so listeners are fully aware of every suggestion being programmed into the subconscious.
